Go to Group Meetings
There are many support groups available to alcoholics. You can go and be surrounded by people who are battling the same addiction that you’re battling. Don’t Push Your Ability to Stay Sober
Many people think that they can start surrounding themselves with drugs and alcohol again after only a few months of being sober. That is never a good idea. While you may think that you can be strong enough to avoid falling for temptation, it may be more difficult than you think. People who don’t suffer from addiction problems don’t know what it’s like. They assume that it’s not a big deal and may tempt you to drink when you are out with them because they assume you can have just one or two and be good for the night.

When this happens, consider giving back to your community to help others the way that people helped you when you were trying to get sober. You could build homes with Habitat for Humanity or work with the homeless in a local homeless shelter. There are more than likely many places where you could serve as a role model for people who are battling alcoholism and want to realize that there is hope along the way.
Alcoholism is a disease that never goes away. You will be battling alcoholism for the rest of your life and have to be strong enough to know that you cannot simply have a shot or a beer and be okay. One beer always becomes two and before you know it you are right back in the same place where you started. Realizing that you are worthwhile and that dealing with emotions is important can help you to be able to stay on track with your sobriety. If you do slip up, get back on the horse and start over right away. Don’t think that you failed and can just give in to the alcoholism that has ruled your life for so long. Only you can take full control of your life.
