An employee is entitled to receive the benefits of an insurance program in the following categories:

  1. Medical aid for the injury that occurred on the job
  2. Reimbursement for the lost wages (usually about two-third according to most states)
  3. Costs involved in retraining for a new job, if any
  4. Financial compensation for permanent injuries
  5. Financial compensation and benefits for the family if the worker died on the job or due to injuries

Types of Disability Benefits For A Worker

For injured employees, the disability benefits fall into four categories mentioned below:

  1. Temporary partial disability
  2. Permanent partial disability
  3. Temporary total disability
  4. Permanent total disability

When a person experiences a temporary disability, they expect to recover completely along with taking the time to heal. This means they will improve and will be capable of doing work just as before. While in a permanent disability, a person’s condition becomes stable but they are not expected to improve completely.

A worker with a total disability may not be able to work in any firm or company because their disability will prevent them from doing any work, even for a temporary basis. However, partial disability means that the employee will be able to work in some way or capacity. They will still be able to offer their skills but not as much as before. They are restricted by doctors in some way that may limit their total office time, workload, etc.
