What exactly can you do for a friend who has just had a baby? If you are unsure as to how you can help her, here are some excellent ideas that she is sure to appreciate.

Give Her Space

Of course, one of the first things you will want to do for your friend who has just had a baby is to get in contact to give your congratulations. But the worst thing you can do is contact her every day thereafter. New moms need space. As much as they will appreciate all the well wishes from friends and family, your friend’s first priority will be spending time with her newborn and her immediate family. So, you can help by letting your friend know that if she wants to drop off-grid for a while, that is totally OK. Let her know you are there for her whenever she needs you, but that it is also fine for her to take the private time she needs.

Give Gifts

Buying a gift for your friend’s new baby is a great way to show you care. However, if you do not know what items the baby already has or does not have, it can be challenging to come up with the right gift idea. One fantastic option is to send your friend a unique and elegant baby gift hamper. The baby gifts in the hamper could include items like clothes, toys, books, and treats. And you could even include a sparkling wine for mom and dad. Indeed, it is a great idea to give your friend a specific gift in addition to getting a present for the baby. Whether you give a new lip gloss, a comfortable robe, or a box of luxury chocolates, your friend will be over the moon.

Take Tasks Off Her Hands

Your friend’s hands are sure to be more than full once the baby arrives. So, one of the best things you can do for her is to take something off her plate. Offer to do some household chores or pop to the store to buy groceries. You could even rally round your mutual friends to set up a support network. She is sure to appreciate help in any form, no matter how much or how little time you can spare.

Take Her Out

For the first few months, your friend will probably not be going out much. Understandably, she will want to spend time with her new little one and her family. But there will come a time when she cannot wait to dine out at a fancy restaurant, go to a wine bar, or have a pedicure and manicure at her favorite beauty salon. You can help by offering to take her out when the time is right. Do not put any pressure on a date. Instead, give her an IOU for a day or night out that can be redeemed whenever she needs it the most. She will have something to look forward to, and when the outing finally happens, you can both have a fantastic time.
