Is your thin, tired hair making you look old before your time? By trying to speed up its growth its natural glow and luster can be restored. All you need to know are the best ways to encourage and nurture it to restore that body and get your shine back.

This starts with a healthier lifestyle, making some changes, and getting the right products. read on for our tips on how a course of treatments and living a healthier life can promote hair growth.

1. Eat the Right Food

Protein intake is essential for growth and repair in the body. It is the substance that helps rebuild muscles and tissue after damage, and part of that is your hair. There are also numerous ways to get healthy protein into your body to promote healthy hair.

Start with lean meats such as fish, turkey, and chicken. If you are vegetarian or vegan, whole grains, nuts, and beans can help you along.

As well as protein, you should also aim to eat the correct vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A, C, and E along with a healthy amount of zinc, iron, and omega 3 are also recommended. If you struggle to get the amount you need, try taking supplements such as gummy hair vitamins to ensure you are getting the necessary amount each day.

2. Trim Your Hair Regularly

The debate is still raging on if cutting your hair actually makes it grow faster. However, what is certain is that it keeps your hair healthy. Getting a cut helps clear out the dead ends, that can split and break.

If your hair begins to break further down the strand, you end up with hair that looks thinned out and frayed. Ideally, you should take 1/8 of an inch of your hair off every 10 to 12 weeks. This will clear away the split ends, making your hair look fuller.

Once done, it will give the appearance that your hair is growing faster, even if it is not. It will also have an increase in the shine and smoothness of the strands.

3. Shampoo Less

Shampoo is created to wash away dirt and grime. To do this, the soap contains sulfates, which can be damaging to your hair if used too much. They start to take away all the natural oils in your hair that are produced in the follicles and scalp.

If you do feel the need to shampoo daily, then try to find a product that is sulfate-free. Concentrate on lathering the scalp, washing dirt from the core, so natural oils remain on the hair strands.

Ideally, shampooing of the hair should only be done two to three times a week, depending on the length of your hair. This allows the natural oils to penetrate the strands. This then gives time to lock this in and repair the follicles themself.

Conditioning is much more important. As it works to lock in moisture and hydrate the hair, this is something that you should do more regularly.

4. Turn Down the Heat

Hot water and showers tend to dehydrate the skin and hair. This is not good for the strands of your hair or the scalp they come from. When washing the hair, make sure you turn the water down to a cool temperature.

At the end of a shampoo and wash session, make sure you rinse with cold water. It will help to lay down the outer layer of the hair. All of this can help prevent any further loss of moisture.

5. Try Caffeine Products

There are a number of products infused with caffeine that can help speed up growth in hair. It does this at the cellular and molecular levels.

The reason for this is that caffeine promotes blood flow to the scalp. This then allows more of the nutrients needed for hair growth to reach the area. It can also help combat the impact of DHT, which is the hormone responsible for the loss of hair.

Caffeine can be applied in a number of ways, including infused styling products. It should take around 2 to 4 months of use before you begin to see a visible difference.

6. Look After Your Scalp

Looking after your scalp allows blood to flow freely to the area. This provides the follicle with everything it needs to promote growth in the strand.

Start by using scalp oils, serums, or masks. If you have fine hair or hair that is thin, then avoid abrasive exfoliant treatments. Focus on products that have ingredients in them known to aid repairs, such as tea tree and citrus oils.

Once you have these, treat yourself to a scalp massage. As well as being a stress reliving pamper, it will dilate blood vessels beneath the skin allowing a bigger flow of blood to the area.

7. Lay off Coloring

Adding dyes and bleaches changes the chemical balance in the hair itself. Chemicals can cause the hair to become brittle and break. Doing these processes less, or not at all, gives the hair a rest and lets it restore itself to its original state.

Care for Yourself

Essentially, you need to begin caring for yourself. Living a healthier life, getting the right food, then combining it with some changes and treatments can make a huge difference. Makes the changes then monitor the progress of your hair over a 3 month period to see how your hair improves.
