Packing for your next festival may not seem as exciting as planning for it. More often than not, it’s because you haven’t prepared a list of all the essentials you need to bring with you to the festival. And even if you have prepared a list by yourself, there is a slim chance that you forgot to include something very basic or important.

In this article, we share with you a complete list of everything you might need for having a fun time at your next festival. Let’s start with the list of the most essential items you should definitely bring with you.

The absolute necessary

There are some things that you just can’t forget to bring to the festival and this includes:

  • Your wallet
  • Money to buy any food items or beverages
  • A mobile phone to keep in touch with your friends and family
  • A portable phone charger or extra battery, just in case you can’t find charging points at the festival site
  • A belt bag to keep your wallet money and mobile phone safely and within easy reach

The essentials

There are several things that should be on your festival packing checklist and this includes:

  • A sunscreen
  • A hat or a headscarf
  • A pair of sunglasses

This is to protect you from the scorching sun, especially if your next festival is being organised during the summer season.

Other essentials include:

  • Trash bags can come in really handy for disposing of your waste, cleaning up your Campsite, as a ground blanket or even as a makeshift raincoat.
  • Water bottle – since bottled water is usually expensive and you can find tap water for free it’s best to carry your own water bottle and refill it whenever you get a chance.
  • Wet wipes – when it’s not possible to take a shower, wet wipes can come in really handy. They are also useful when you have to use a portable toilet installed in a public area.

Optional checklist for camping

There are times when you don’t want to sleep at a hotel and feel like camping to stay closer to the festival arena instead. For such situations, here are some camping essentials you should consider bringing with you to the festival.

  • A tent – it’s probably the most important item on the camping checklist. Make sure it has enough sleeping space and also some additional space for keeping your backpack and other essentials.
  • A sleeping bag or a blanket to ensure proper comfort and a good night’s sleep
  • A sleeping mat or an inflatable air mattress, since it isn’t as comfortable to sleep on the ground as it is to sit
  • A flashlight or torch to make it easier for you to find your way during the nighttime
  • Extra batteries, just in case your flashlight or lamp go out and expectedly

Clothing

The festival season is usually around summer. However, weather can be unpredictable at times so it’s best to pack for both warm and cold weather.

  • For hot days, you should pack warm weather clothes like T-shirts, shorts, pyjamas, tank tops etc.
  • In warm clothing, you can include a sweater, a hoodie, a long-sleeved sweatshirt and long trousers.
  • Let’s not forget about the possibility of rainfall. So, don’t forget to pack a raincoat or disposable ponchos and some rubber boots if you like.
  • In footwear, you can pack flip flops, trainers, and boots, depending on what you find comfortable and don’t mind if they get ruined during the festival.
  • Swimwear can come in handy when it’s too hot or when you are having a shower.

Health and hygiene essentials

It’s easy to lose yourself and forget about the world when you are having fun at your favourite festival. But don’t forget about your health and hygiene. To start with, pack any medications you may need apart from a bag of toiletries, including but not limited to:

  • Hand sanitiser – for times when you can’t wash your hands properly
  • Dry shampoo
  • Deodorant because you may sweat a lot
  • A towel – you may want to keep a microfiber towel, because it’s light and thin, absorbs more water than your regular towels and is quick to dry
  • A mini emergency kit to provide you with anything you may need for any small cuts or injuries
  • Contraceptives and/or sanitary pads

Additional items you may want to consider

Even though these items are not essential you may want to consider adding them to your festival packing list:

  • A selfie stick if you want to record your experience at the festival with a selfie or a groupie don’t forget to bring a selfie stick with you
  • A portable speaker to let the music play when the performances have finished
  • A portable chair or seat to sit down wherever and whenever you want without having to worry about finding a place to sit. Flipstick has some great products you may want to check out
  • A small battery-operated fan, which will help you stay cool and sweat less
  • Small plastic bags to protect your belongings from getting wet and keep them secure

Even though it may seem like a lot of packing to do for just a couple of days, it will ensure that you have a great time at your next festival.
